LO1 - Game Genre Research

Platform

a type of video game featuring two-dimensional graphics where the player controls a character jumping or climbing between solid platforms at different positions on the screen.

Sandbox

 An open world is a type of video game level design where a player can roam freely through a virtual world and is given considerable freedom in choosing how or when to approach objectives. The term free roam is also used, as is sandbox and free-roaming.

Adventure

 a type of computer game in which the participant plays a fantasy role in an episodic adventure story.

Fighting

 Fighting game is a video game genre in which the player controls an on-screen character and engages in close combat with an opponent. These characters tend to be of equal power and fight matches consisting of several rounds, which take place in an arena.

Action

The action game is a video game genre that emphasizes physical challenges, including hand–eye coordination and reaction-time.
  
Sport

A sports game is a video game that simulates the practice of traditional sports. Most sports have been recreated with a game, including team sports, athletics, extreme sports and combat sports.
